Well its not as easy as it looks, so you have to have a lot of patience!

HALLOWEEN GRUMPKIN CARVING - HOW TO CARVE A GIANT PUMPKIN

This is a carving from a 114lb. pumpkin and won a 4th place ribbon with the Kentucky state fair.
First time carving a grumpkin and it was a little soft from sitting the fair for two weeks. It collapsed under its own weight about 18 hours after after It was finished. The only tool used was a hawkbill carpet knife and a vegetable peeler.

Last but not the least here is a Video contains a montage of Halloween pumpkins that were artistically carved for the occasion. However, while these are simply beautiful carvings using pumpkins as an artistic medium, the detailed work on them is exquisitely done and sometimes seemingly life-like.
